This week I worked on both the kitchen and laundry room of a beautiful new home is Castle Pines. The photos from the kitchen are self explanatory but I have only included a detail shot from the laundry room. This night dress is one item on a 14 foot clothesline mural.

While working on the hood over the stove I discovered a new technique which I think I will employ often. I generally sketch the composition in pencil and then skip straight to the acrylics. Since these clients were very particular I wanted to make sure they liked the sketch before I spent too much time on the painting. The pencil sketch was very difficult to see so I went over it with what I'm going to call a wet sketch. I had a brown glaze left over from another project so I 'sketched' with that. The result was a beautiful tone-on-tone sepia composition which only took about a half hour and was the perfect way to make sure the clients and I were on the same page.
